MY HOLIDAY TREES

I've been thinking about my holiday decor.  I decided to reminisce a bit by viewing all my holiday trees on my blog posts from 2012 to the present.  Each year I seem to do something different.

2016 FUR, FEATHERS AND PEARLS

In 2015 I used my disco balls and silver spheres as a tree skirt.  I never put them away after the holiday.  They've been rolling around the house since then.

You know that I don't like red.  This is the only time I had a red tree.  I think it was because I loved these plaid suitcases and just had to do it.

In 2013 some peacock feathers were my inspiration.

It's time to get an early start on your holiday decor.   I just finished decorating my space for Christmas before I even put my Halloween candy in the bowl for the trick-or-treaters.  I'm hoping that my pics will put you in the holiday mood and you'll come shop with us.

For some reason, after years of a love affair with silver and mercury glass, I've developed a fondness for gold.  You'll see my new favorite metal in my holiday decor.  

Santos, Gold, and  Peacock Feathers

Peacock Wrapping Paper as a Back Drop for My Holiday Display 

I wanted a way to display a selection of my ornaments, so I cut a triangle from the peacock wrapping paper I used as a back drop.  On the blank reverse side I randomly painted gold polka dots with the end of a foam paint roller dipped into gold craft paint.   I added some screws down the sides of the "tree" and  zigzagged from one side to the other with gold garland.

Besides the glass jars, I used a large rectangular metal basket to hold the ornament overflow.
I lined it with gold-trimmed napkins and leopard ribbon.

I used a chippendale planter from my garden as a tree stand for my feather tree.

 If you recall, last year I did my whole space in plaid. 

 It still seems to be very popular so I included some tartan again.

My Peacock Feather Inspired Tree

This year's tree was inspired by the colors in a peacock feather--turquoise and chartruese.  

To that mix I added some glittery pinks and lavenders.

Surprisingly, the angel, copper bottle and shabby oil painting are still on the landing.  Last year I used magnolia leaves, but for this year, it's all peacock feathers and glass garlands.

Last year our tree was huge.  It totally filled the wall space.  This year it's much smaller, so I decided to add some holiday decor to the brass wall sconce.  I also tucked some peacock feathers into the tree.

I'm still so against garlands on stair railings.  Last year I used empty frames. 

 This year I used peacock feather wreaths.

I had a turquoise fabric remnant and wrapped it around the base.

The ribbon with images of peacock feathers was a great find.  I'm liking draping the ribbon vertically rather than wrapping it around.   It's easier to do too.

Take a peek at the ornaments. 

 Many of them, as well as the garlands, were re-used from a previous tree.

Chinoiserie Mantel

Every holiday I try some new look on my mantels.  Last year I called the mantel in my sun room a Florentine mantel since I incorporated many of my florentine boxes and icons.

This year I went in a completely different direction.  I added peacock feathers, foo dogs, and vintage ornaments in apothecary jars.  I especially love the turquoise/lime/hot pink color combo.
