MAPS AS ART: YEA OR NAY?

I frequently frame maps and use them as art.  For me, art doesn't always have to be an oil stretched on to canvas or a print matted, framed and hung on a wall.  I like to call it un art.

Originally, this map was in my living room.  I moved it to the dining room after our kitchen renovation.

Of course I like the map because it's black and white.

CLOSE UP OF THE MAP

The frame is pretty wonderful too.  It's vintage and I was so happy when I realized the map would fit in it.   Hoarding sometimes pays off.  I had it in waiting for years.

Here it is in its previous location.

I've also written about un art before.  If you'd like to see that post, go here.

What do you use as un art?

GIANT ALLIUM: MY NEWEST GARDEN ADDITION

Last Fall I purchased  allium bulbs from Holland Bulbs.  I planted two under the windows on either side of my chimney and a third Giant Allium in a side garden.  They did not disappoint.  This first image is before it bloomed.  I planted it in front of a vintage chimney pot.  I use chimney pots as tall planters in my garden.

You can see it in the lower left corner of the side garden.  I can't wait for it to multiply.

This is what it looked like in full bloom in front of the chimney pot.

ANTLERS

Do you add antlers to your decor?  I do.  Enjoy some of mine.

Shed antlers in a container in my family room.

SHED ANTLERS COLLECTED IN A CLEAR JAR

I always use them on stacks of books.  I've included Bella.

ANTLERS ON PHOTOGRAPHY BOOKS AND OF COURSE MY FAVORITE LAB, BELLA

I turned an old framed oil over and added some antlers.  Rustic + nature.

I'm not sure where this is going yet so it's currently resting on my zebra rug while I decide.

ANTLERS ON FRAMED OIL PAINTING

My neighbor's tree sheds these wonderful curly seed pods.  I combined them with some antlers in an urn.  They were my Fall decor on my porch a few years ago.

You know I love orange.  I combined the antlers with some Hermes boxes and finials.  (The finials are Christmas ornaments that I refuse to pack away after the holidays.)
