Some of What I'll Have at Vintagepalooza

It came up fast but this Saturday, the 15th, is Vintagepalooza  and I wanted to tempt you with some of what I'll have for sale.

I'll have this fabulous garden table.  It could work inside or outside on your porch or patio.  Six can sit comfortably around it.  On top is a dough bowl with boxwood spheres and on the bottom shelf a small lazy susan.

My favorite furniture piece for this sale is this re-purposed file drawer section.  The raised panels suggested a Union Jack design to me.  I did a Union Jack variation in tones of black and gray.  I added some vintage iron legs from my stash to raise it up.  It could  be a side table or a buffet with file storage.

For Mid Century Modern fans I'll have a brass bar cart, metal faux bamboo glass-topped table, side chair with chevron fabric, bar ware, a green demi-john with peacock feathers, and gold pheasant salt and pepper shakers.

I always love caned pieces.  I have the rails for this single bed which would make a perfect day bed.  The one-drawer night stand matches the bed.  The vintage metal wall sconce has been re-wired and has a plug.   No need to call the electrician.  The book ends are architectural fragments.  Scrolly ironwork can go inside or in the garden.

I always have to have some nature-inspired items for sale.  I filled a cloche with shells and placed it on a Pottery Barn pedestal.  The shell on a stand is faux.  The turtle shell and antlers are authentic.

I was so excited when I found these rubber stamps in their original box.
 There are 89 letters and symbols!!!!!

All things Frenchy next.  The Robin Hood flour sign is enamelware as is the canister set.  They're resting on a ledger book within a scale.

I'll have my shabby stools that got their face lifts.

This vintage vanity has curvy cabriole legs.  I recovered it in a creamy Belgium linen with braided trim and nail heads in the corners.  Check back later for tutorial.

Gotta love that leg.

Mirror Images

I've been noticing how interesting the reflections are in the mirrors in my home.  I decided to snap some mirror images.  If you're interested in which room is reflected, I've highlighted a link to the post within the text.
This modern geometric mirror is resting on my family room mantel.  Part of my chevron-backed bookcases is reflected there.

The convex sunburst mirror in my foyer gives a somewhat distorted image of my stairwell.

My shell map and my chinoiserie chandelier as well as my painted branches reflect in my greek key mirror on my mantel in my sunroom.

The next two reflections are from the mirror on my screened porch.  The first shows my ceiling tile art and one of my santos.

The second shows my wire orb and some iron candlesticks on the porch.

This next mirror is between my bookcases.

My pier mirror leans in the corner behind my sofa and my sofa table in my living room.
My bookcase and chandelier reflect into it.

This mirror is also in my living room.  It was actually a picture frame and I added a mirror to it.  Reflected in this ornate gilt frame are my iron pedestal spheres ,which I use as bookends, and framed black and white architectural prints.

My orange chinoiserie chandelier and a sneak peek of my wine poster appear in this mirror.

That was fun.  I did realize though that I'm a little obsessed with sunburst mirrors.

2012 in Review

Peacock Love

I'm still working on my daughter's bedroom.  I found her a chinoiserie night stand for one side of the bed.  You know I never like to be too matchy matchy so I decided that for the other side of the bed a desk would be more practical.  She purchased a high gloss white x-based desk from World Market.  It is a perfect work space and also acts as another bedside table.  The pink molded desk chair on wheels is from Ikea.

I found knobs with peacocks for her chinoiserie night stand.

After I found these knobs I was finding peacocks everywhere.

 I created a gallery wall above her desk with them.

Below is a closer look at the small gallery wall mix.  It includes some images of peacocks which I placed in multi-colored frames, a sunburst mirror, and some vintage metal peacocks that I spotted and purchased at a flea market.  She had the lamp, in fact a pair of them.  I updated them with chevron shades from Target.  The large framed image is a page from an old book, the other two are copies of a liquor ad I found in a magazine.  Did you notice that the upper and lower images are from the same ad?  I made two copies.  I framed the whole image in the lower picture and cut the other copy in half and only framed the top half for the upper picture.

At Home Goods I purchased this planter decorated with peacock feathers.  She uses it to hold pens and pencils.  The journal also has peacock feathers.  I tied a ribbon and a feather around it and perched a peacock Christmas ornament on top just for fun.
