My Secret Vintage Gypsy Life

My blogger friends and I who are also vintage vendors have a secret gypsy life.  Yes, hidden behind all those perfectly-styled rooms we post, we have hidden inventory.  You know that before and after  dresser that was such a find and so beautiful after its update with paint and new knobs?  Well, in a secret stash is a stack of many more dressers, chairs, tables, and accessories, all with what we're sure have hidden potential.  Yes, we've filled our basements, overtaken our garages and filled every nook, cranny and flat surface with our projects (hoard).  Pretty normal huh.
  But we love it and could never give it up.

I was thinking of this as I power washed some shutters in my driveway and leaned them against my truck to dry.  What do the neighbors have to say?  I don't know and I try to stay hidden.  In fact, I park my truck behind the garage out of sight.  I've never shared my truck before, but my kids call it the beast.  I've had it for many years and its my main hauling means for all my finds.  It also has moved kids back and forth to college and apartments and hauled yard waste to the dump.  It has over 100,000 miles and some rust spots.  One of them is growing on the side.  There's another rust spot forming in the floor board at the back corner, and if it rains too hard, water sometimes leaks inside.  Some of these injuries are due to things like lamp posts and fire hydrants
unexpectedly deciding to jump into the side of my truck.

Remastered Relics

Shabby Stools

I recently found these fabulous shabby stools.  Such great rustiness and chippiness.  I was going to leave them as they were, but I thought the seats deserved a face lift.  I couldn't remove the stains on one of them and decided that one of the stains was a cigarette burn.  The other had some rips.

It was really easy to remove the seats from the stools.  They were held on with only four screws.  I removed the vinyl fabric and added new padding.  I've already done a post about how to recover a simple seat cushion.  Go here for complete instructions if you missed the post.

The first stool is on wheels and the height of the seat is adjustable.   I chose a blue geometric fabric and finished off the edge with cording  Here it is assembled.

I used one of my favorite fabrics.  It's Robert Allen for Dwell Studios.

Change Up-----Maybe

Of course I've been out shopping and checking out a new store,
B and B Home Shop--The Vintage Marketplace at Glenwood, and of course I found a chair to purchase.  I know, the last thing I needed was another chair.  But, it was black and it was patent leather, and I loved it.

Now, here's the change up----maybe.   You know that I just buy because I like it and think about where I'll put it later.  I thought it would be a good desk chair next to my spinet desk.

Now, here's the quandary.   I already have this lovely chinoiserie chair that I covered with my favorite gray zebra fabric.

I like them both.  I love the black they both have.  The new chair has gold trim that works perfectly in the room.  The chinoiserie chair works better style wise since I have a chinoiserie chandelier on the other side of the desk.

Help!!!!! I need input to decide.  What should I do?
