BOOKS I’VE NEVER READ

 I’m an avid reader with a confession to make:  Sometimes I buy books because I like their covers.  I have no interest in the content.  Scroll through to view all the books I’ve never read.

I recently purchased this stack of books at HomeGoods.  They’re perfect risers for my faux coral.

I don’t even know how to play Whist but I just needed the book to go with my Whist trophy.

I will always buy a book with an animal print cover.

Vignette Fragments on My Nature-Inspired Mantel

Yes, I'm back to that family room mantel that I never seem to get quite right.  I have to say though that while it gives me fits, it also pushes to me tackle it one more time.  It remained empty after Christmas, but I seemed to have accumulated quite a few nature-related items
 and started playing with them until I came up with this.
It's a mix of antlers, turtle shells, glass floats from Pottery Barn,
 and framed book plates, with some covered demijohns, vintage books,
and an iron grate for a back drop.

I decided that I like to photograph snippets of arrangements.  This mantel was no exception.

A Quick Before and After for Fall

Just wanted to share the latest change-up for Fall in the family room.

BEFORE

AFTER

I only kept the slip cover and sconces.  I layered some chevron fabric over the slipcover, and added some Fall decor to the mantel.

 
  To the left of the mantel, I added a framed 18th C. French architectural reference print.

Below the mantel, I left one of the slipper chairs, but I added an orange Trina Turk fabric on a pillow for a pop of color.  The paisley behind it is a table runner.   An antique green garden stool is a side table, topped with some Chaucer books with decorative covers and one of my turtle shells.

The vintage x bench displays my "antler arrangement".  

To the right of the mantel is my latest cabinet with a lamp, interior design books, and a mid-century modern horse head.
