MY LIGHTING ISN’T GOING TO MAKE IT TO THE CEILING

Recently I purchased this wonderful flush mount lighting from @monicagarrettinteriors.  I love the spikes.  My intention was to hang it in my butler's pantry.  While I was waiting for my “electrician”, aka my husband, I put it into my wood pedestal compote in the center of my dining room table.  I like it there.  I'm calling it my accidental centerpiece.

Here's a closer look.  It's obviously up side down in the compote.

I originally planned on replacing the vintage crystal pendant chandelier in the butler's pantry with this new lighting.

So what do you think?  Should I leave it in the compote or hang it in the pantry?

REFLECTIONS AND SHADOWS

I haven't been posting many images of what I have for sale at the store, but I thought that this was a great follow up to my post about my dog decor.   This photo features one of my low-maintenance  pets in triplicate.  I was trying to get the reflection of the dog in the mirror and got an added surprise with the shadow he created.   The unexpected in a photo is always appreciated.

GATEHOUSE DESIGNS @ BUCKEYSTOWN DESIGN CO-OP

If you've been following my blog, you know that I'm one of four partners at a home decor store, Buckeystown Design Co-Op.  We're four partners with four separate businesses and four different styles.  We all come together and merge our designs to create a  home decor event every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  I usually share what I have with you.  I decided to make a change and share what my partner and my friend Monica, owner of Gatehouse Designs, has created.  She balances my boho with her European farmhouse style.  In the foreground of this first image is a sampling of some of the rugs she sells.  In the background you see linens, bedding and pillows in a large European cupboard and on a French day bed.

She always carries a large selection of chandeliers that she displays on a pergola.

New to the store are these coffee tables created from teak root balls.

I hope you can join us for our next sale, November 15, 16, and 17. @

Design Musings: Why Symmetrical?

There's something to be said for the balance that symmetry gives to a room.  Have you ever thought about how those symmetrical pairings would work when placed side by side?

Lately I've decided that pairs don't have to be separated and symmetrical, but rather
placed end-to-end, stacked on top, or my favorite configuration:  side by side.

Take a peek and tell me what you think.
