MY FAVORITE DISHES

 If you haven’t noticed, I have an obsession with dishes.  I selected some of my favorites and restyled the cupboard in my butler’s pantry in green and white with gold accents.

CORNER CUPBOARD IN GREEN AND WHITE

The top shelf  has my favorite transferware in green.  I’ve sold off a lot of my vintage dishes but I don’t think I’ll ever part with these green and white dishes.  They actually directed the cupboard styling.  In the center is a large white Italian cachepot and ginger jar salt and pepper.  On the shelf below are some scalloped oyster plates.  I added the pair of green bookends just because they were the right color.

The next shelves hold some of my cabbage leaf collection.  The white luncheon plates are a variation of the green ones.  I have three of these cabbage leaf pedestal dessert stands in graduated sizes.

The bottom shelf holds more transferware and an ironstone pedestal bowl filled with gold apples, pears and figs.  The demijohn base bowl holds bumble bee napkin rings.

I tied it all together with a selection of gold accents:  figs, apples, pears, bumble bee napkin rings, tassel bookends, artichokes and  weathered furniture finials.

WING CHAIR LOVE

I've always loved wing chairs and I have them in several rooms of my home.  This pair of chairs at either end of my dining room table have a sentimental attachment.  They came from my parents' living room.  I had them slipcovered so any time I wanted to I could peek underneath and see the original fabric.

I added the leopard print pillow to add some fun to a traditional chair.

HOW I USE EMPTY FRAMES

For me, empty frames are a design element that I use frequently.  I especially like to use large chunky vintage frames with carving or ornamentation.  Chippy gold leaf frames are also sought after.  I use them in my home as well as in my store displays.  Here are some from my home.

 I rested it onto a print on the settee in my living room.

Nothing stays in the same spot at my house.  The frame moved to the foyer.  The horizontal wall stripes peek through the empty center. Which location do you like?

A vintage door can also be used as a frame.  This pair of prints fits into the open space created by the door frame.  It adds some interest in my narrow upstairs hallway.

I'm always playing with frames in store displays.  I actually removed the mirror from this frame and layered it over some decorator paper.

I turned a chippy green frame on an angle and put a laurel leaf wreath inside.

It's perfectly framed  inside the ornate vintage gold frame and gives a 3D effect.

I'm so ready for summer.  This was one of my summer spaces.
I draped a garland of driftwood between two frames.

I loved this store display.  I filled an entire wall with frames and filled them with fun accessories.

Several years ago I was a guest designer @Lucketts Store.  My room was styled as an artist's loft.  Frames played a big part in the design.
