Kitchen Update Reveal

I continue to update my 1970's knotty pine kitchen.  In a previous post I shared that I painted my cabinets gray.  As a back splash alternative I used Duralee  Faux Snakeskin fabric and trimmed it out with nail heads.  This vignette with the pewter plate and urns stayed the same.  So did the back splash.  I love the faux snake skin fabric and nail head trim as much if not more than when I added it more than two years ago.  If you missed that post, go here.

I decided to change the window treatments to this Schumacher chevron fabric, High Voltage.

And also changed the chairs in the eat-in area from this:

To this set of four, found at a consignment store.

Modern Chrome and Leather Vintage Chair

Not much changed in the kitchen prep area.  I made a faux roman shade for above the sink and changed the red French canister set for a set of stainless.

The eat-in area change up was more dramatic.

It's a little difficult to see, but the new light fixture is a horizontal stainless bar with hanging crystals.  I also did full length window treatments in the chevron fabric.  I like the look of the longer draperies.  I left the door uncovered.  You can see the draperies and new chairs better in this next image.

I love how the chairs look.  I swapped out a sisal rug bound in black for this Greek key rug.

This next image is looking into the kitchen from the laundry/pantry, still a work in progress.

I also changed up the vignette on the small sideboard.  I love the color and size of this vintage piece.  I keep all my tablecloths, place mats, and napkins in it.

I kept the Versace print which I've had for years.  I totally love it.  It's been in several rooms in the house.  I added the houndstooth cylinder, some silver driftwood to go with the "silver" in the room, a new lamp and shade, and of course my signature orb.  The orb is sitting on a vintage book with a chevron pattern.  The book--another design element that I love to use--was shown in another post about some of my vintage finds.  If you missed that, go here.

That closed door next to the server is my laundry/pantry.  I'll be sharing that soon.

Hey, it's done and posted.  Click on the highlighted words to see the laundry/pantry.
What do you think about the changes?
What have you done to update an out-of-date kitchen?
