New Sale New Stuff

Since the sales are so close together and I'm feeling a little time crunched I decided to photograph some of the items before they are in place at the barn.  I have a real mix this time.

One of the traditional pieces of furniture that I'll have for sale is this fabulous antique flame mahogany dresser and mirror.  It doesn't have to go only in a bedroom.
It would work in a foyer or formal living room too.

Not only is the flame mahogany impressive, but all the knobs have an inlaid compass rose pattern.
The look of flame mahogany is achieved by cutting across the grain of the wood for an elegant pattern.

Compass Rose Inlaid Knobs

For those of you who love the Ralph Lauren look, I have 9 yards of this wool tartan plaid fabric.

In a totally different direction, I'll have 4 panels of vintage barkcloth.  Each panel is 110 inches long.  They are absolutely fabulous.

I also have a set of 4 designer Italianate chairs.  They're new but so wonderful.

I'll have a selection of vintage cloths and also these pillows made from antique linen.
They have a hand-sewn toile insert.

The back is also hand stitched with vintage buttons.

I painted this Empire oval side table a Swedish gray and added a vintage glass knob.

I also have a vintage sled with great chippy green paint.  It's perfect for holiday decor.

This chinoiserie lamp is vintage.  Blue and white always works in decor.

And for all of you who are thinking about some New Year's Eve bling,  I've filled a small tree with vintage costume jewelry.

I hope you can make it to the sale.   We'll have holiday and home decor in addition to our vintage finds.

My Other Obsession

If you've been following you know that I'm obsessed with architectural prints.

My Laundry/Pantry

I'm also obsessed with architectural fragments and leather books with marbleized covers.

My Styled Cupboard

And, I love old bottles too.  This is getting scary.

Bottles on My Screened Porch

If that's not enough, after looking around my house I'm afraid that I'm obsessed with chairs too.
I think that one of my favorites is my chippy paint frenchy chair.  When I thought about writing this post I was really regretting not having a before image.  But I found what it looked like as I was reading the latest post from Funky Junk.

I guess you could describe it as funky, but me, chair obsessed, fell in love.

Mine was almost identical to this one from mommashenscoop.com--sans Fall decor.  Rather than use it for a Fall display, I dragged it to the upholsterer.  June, my upholsterer, is so sweet.  Anyone else would have looked at me like I was crazy, but not June.  She just took the fabric and got started.
Didn't she do a fabulous job.

This chair has been all over the house.  The leopard print works like a neutral and it works anywhere.

Another chair that I purchased as a frame only was this finished beauty.  Sorry, no before pic.  I've had this chair for many years.  Currently, it's in my foyer.

Backside
Don't you agree that the back and sides are just as pretty as the front.  Details really make the upholstery job stand out.

My question to you is:  How can I be crazy about Mid Century Modern and obsessed with chippy frenchy?   Do you have the I like too much problem too?

Industrial Hanging Fixture

I love the look of industrial. When I saw this lamp shade without its fabric, it reminded me of that look.

I loved the shape and initially I was only going to suspend a bulb on a cord in it.  Then I decided to pretty it up.  I had some upholstery webbing and I cut it to size and hand sewed strips within the openings.  Of course my husband, the implementor of all my crazy ideas, added the cord, socket, and some chain.  I sewed a jute cord cover and added some crystals for a blingy contrast.

Here it is hanging in my booth at the Barn.

Here's another view with the cord cover visible.

What do you think?

Stylish Patina Barn Sale November 18, 19, and 20.

As promised, I'll share some of the furniture pieces I've added to my booth.  Some areas look pretty bare since I haven't accessorized it all yet.
You've already seen my night stands in a previous post.  I combined them with a pair of vintage twin beds by Drexel furniture.  The canvas tote is by Thomas Paul.  I covered a book in faux bois paper.  The blingy star is one of my Christmas ornaments as is the glittery over-sized jingle bell.

In a completely different direction I have a pair of modern chairs from a  Hickory, NC manufacturer.  The pillows with peacock feathers really make them pop.  I also filled a vintage brass umbrella stand with peacock feathers that I'll have for sale.  Next to the chairs is a vintage bamboo bar cart with a removable tray.  As a back drop I have a Victorian screen.  If you add your fabric to the openings I think you'll have a perfect original headboard.  In front of the the bar are some chippy gold nesting tables.

This next piece  took me the longest to get ready.  I only have the before image of one of the doors.  I was so excited about the piece that I started painting it without a pic.

Here it is in place.  I'm planning on adding some mercury glass and bling on it.   It is actually a buffet but it would be perfect as the base for a flat screen TV.   Above is a vintage 5 light hanging chandelier which I had professionally re-wired.

And last but not least is another vintage Drexel furniture piece.  I believe it is a buffet also since the top drawer has sections for flatware.  I don't know why you couldn't use it in your bedroom.  I love the graduated drawers.  I added the greek key design.

I'll have jars filled with mercury glass and blingy ornaments.

I'll also have this angel, a selection of glass chandelier ornaments,  small boxwood wreath ornaments, and  mercury glass clip-on bird ornaments.

I also took some vintage items and created holiday decor.  In the upper left corner is an antique shaving mirror.  Next to it is a vintage iron woman in profile.  I added a ribbon and crystal.  The book is an antique song book, and in the lower right is a vintage brass stencil.

I haven't had a chance to add all my mix of  small vintage and new  accessories, small pieces of furniture and all Christmas decor.  I'll have a large selection of them.

I hope you can make it to the sale.  The barn is huge and I'm only one of the vendors there.  FIY for you DIY bloggers, one of the vendors sells Annie Sloan chalk paint.
