Welcome to My First Post

Welcome to my first post.  I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a while, but was intimidated by my granny computer skills.  Then, an unexpected and exciting chain of events gave me the incentive to get started.

I can hardly believe it, but I was a guest on the Nate Berkus Show!!!

Let me fill you in.  I am a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and until recently, the owner of a home boutique, Vignettes, specializing in a mix of vintage finds and new accessories for a one-of-a-kind look.   I am also an interior design dabbler—and that’s how it all started.

Whenever anyone sees my house, they tell me that I have to send pics to some magazines.  I certainly was flattered but also not sure if I was magazine quality.  I took some images, but never did anything with them.

For the past year though, I have become obsessed with interior design blogs.  I noticed that everyone was blogging about the Nate Berkus Show.   I went to his website and I noticed that they asked for photos of viewers’ projects.  So, I sent in some images of my house.  I never heard back and kind of forgot about it.

A few weeks ago I went to bed really early.  The next morning, while I was making lunches and getting breakfast, I noticed that on an envelope on the mail recycle pile was a message:  Call Nate Berkus Show.  I said “Hey guys, when did they call?”  They told me they called after I had gone to bed and they didn’t want to awaken me.  They had no idea who Nate was.  I was so excited I couldn’t stand it.

So, I talked with one of the producers, and she said they loved the photos of my house and would like me to be on the show.   This was Thursday, and after a whirlwind few days of phone calls and flip cams, I was in New York on Monday night and filmed the segment on Tuesday.

It was about shopping vintage for a unique look at a great price point.  Sounds just like me.  I was on with three other awesome viewers who shared their fabulous rooms.  We all bonded and became fast friends.

You have to check out their blogs and see how talented they are.

We had the best time.  Nate and everyone there couldn’t have been nicer.  It was really fun.

I”m excited.  Can you tell.
