MY NEW WORKSPACE--SUNSHINE, SPHERES AND SPARKLE

Recently I abandoned my desk in an upstairs bedroom and claimed the spinet desk on the main floor.  The desk was in the family room.  I dragged it through the foyer to its new location in  a corner of the living room.  I removed everything from the living room corner with the exception of the large pier mirror leaning against the wall.  I like it there. I faced the desk into the room with the mirror behind me.  The wing chair was already in that room and became my desk chair. The disco balls have been rolling around this room for a long time.  They originally were a tree skirt under our Christmas tree.  That was many Christmases ago.  They were just too pretty to put away after the holidays so they roll around all year long.

MY NEW WORKSPACE

I photographed the space and was ready to edit and write the post the next day.  When I walked into the room the next morning, I was greeted by sunshine and sparkle.  Those disco balls are amazing.  You know how I feel about sunshine, spheres, and sparkle.  I just had to get the camera and start all over.  By the time I finished taking the photos, the sparkle had traveled to another location.

SUNSHINE, SPHERES, AND SPARKLE

Since I ran out of sparkle before I could photograph everything again, this post will be a mix of photos with sparkle and photos without any shimmer at all.

The reflection filled the ceiling too.

I have a yellow lab, but that didn't stop me from adding this pillow to the wing chair.

There aren't many drawers in this desk so I used a magazine rack for my folders.

The art was already there.  They're a pair of architectural drawings.

SPARKLE

New Year's Eve always says sparkle to me.  I do love sparkle.  How about you?

Here's some sparkle from around my house.  Let's end this year and start the new one with some shimmer, sequins and glitter.

I love this disco ball wine cooler on my bar cart.

I layered a gold tree topper over some artwork on my chaise.

DISCO BALL LOVE

Several years ago I became obsessed with having a disco ball.  Of course mine would never be suspended from the ceiling.  I don't even like to dance.

I guess I made my point about wanting a sparkly sphere.  My Christmas present that year was a disco ball.  Never a person to only have one of anything, I acquired several in different sizes.  You probably are wondering where I put them if I didn't suspend them.  Mine just rolled into a room and took up residence where they stopped.   They created a natural grouping in my living room.

Every sunny morning I'm greeted by their reflections on my living room ceiling.

EARLY MORNING REFLECTIONS IN MY LIVING ROOM

The sparkle only lasts for a short time, then it's gone until the next sunny morning.

CEILING SPARKLE

I do put them to work for the holidays.  I placed one on the bench on my front porch.

I think my favorite Christmas tree is this one.  I used the disco balls as a tree skirt.  If you look closely you'll see that I happened to have some large silver spheres in the mix.  You'll also see me and my camera mirrored in multiples.

Another Christmas I mixed the disco balls with some magnolia leaves and Hermes scarf boxes in front of my fireplace.

Do you like decor that sparkles even if it isn't a holiday?

Christmas Decor 2015

This year's front door wreath is a simple boxwood wreath with some plaid ribbon.
It really stands out on our newly painted door.

Our tree seems to have found its forever location in the foyer.  We've moved it around the house to several other locations, but we like it here best.

Welcome
I know I said I prefer gold tones, but I wanted to use what I had on hand
so we're all about silver and mercury glass on this tree.

Silver and Mercury Glass Tree

In lieu of a tree skirt, I mixed my disco balls with my mercury glass orbs and
tucked them under the tree branches.

I even have some mini disco ball ornaments.

What's a post without a dog photo bomb.

Sweet Bella

You know that I've had a vintage shop for more years than I care to share.  Each holiday I always have a selection of ornaments for sale.  Of course I always put some aside for myself.   This year's tree is filled with years of ornament collecting.
