Wire Cloche

I've been selling these wire cloches in the store for a while.  Sometimes I fill them with orbs.

Other times I just place them over interesting vintage treasures.

Or sometimes I just let them tumble in some old oak file drawers.

But, what I've been wanting to do with them since I started carrying them was to create a pendant light.  I soaked the reed on the top to soften it so I could pry it apart enough to add the socket.  I attached the socket and cord and added a reproduction Edison bulb.  I like its shape and the fact that you can see the filaments.

I always like to cover the chain and cord.  I've been making the cord covers from burlap fabric, but I found a much faster way.  I purchase burlap ribbon and cut it to the desired length- usually two and one half times the cord length.  This lets it scrunch up nicely.   Then all I have to do is fold the ribbon in half and stitch it up and slide it over the cord.  What a time saver!

Burlap Ribbon

I love this burlap ribbon.   Have you used this ribbon in a project?
I'd love to hear about what you've done with it.
